Lunch Menu

We provide nutritious school meals which are catered by Shire services. We operate a three week rolling menu. The nutrition values of the meals are calculated over the course of a week. Children have a choice of a meat or vegetarian option with a source of carbohydrate and vegetables. In addition, there is fresh bread, salad and fruit available on a daily basis. All allergens and dietary requirements are catered for.

The schools use a system called Squid, which enables children to choose their menu choice each day. Parents are able to access this system via an app to make menu choices on behalf of their child. This should be done prior to the start of the school day.

Meal Payment

Children who are in reception, year one and year two receive free meals as part of the universal infant free school meals scheme. Pupils who are in nursery, years 3 through to year six will be charged £2.30 for their meal. We use the payment system Squid to collect payment for school meals online. This is the same app and system which is used for selecting menu options.

Free School Meals

Some families are eligible for free school meals. Even if your child receives universal infant school meals, it is important to apply for this as the school receives additional funding to support children from low income families educationally. This is part of our pupil premium funding. Families may be eligible for free school meals if they are in receipt of the following benefits:

  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The guaranteed element of Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
  • Working Tax Credit run-on – paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
  • Universal Credit – if you apply on or after 1 April 2018, your household income must be less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get)
